Scientific Name Convolvulus arvensis L.
Other Names Bindweed, creeping jenny, and small bindweed.
Life Cycle perennial
General Description Perennial with climbing or trailing viney stems with arrow shaped leaves.
Seedlings Cotyledons are smooth, large, and form a square kidney bean shape. Young leaves are bell-shaped and on long petioles. No cotyledons present when emerging from established rhizomes.
True Leaves and Stem Leaves are alternate and bell-shaped (three points). Stems are generally smooth, and trailing.
Roots Extensive rhizomes.
Flower and Fruit White flowers are produced in the leaf axil. Petals are fused to make a funnel shape. Fruit is a eggshaped, round capsule that contains four seeds.
